Subject: edit citation

Dear all, I am building the reference list for a paper I have finished writting and which needs to be formated using the APA 5th edition format. I sometimes cite in the text the full list of authors for an article Smith, Johnson and Dupont (1984) and have used the "edit citation" menu in word to hide the author from the citation. When I cite this paper again in the text, reference manager should format it in the form (smith et al., 1984) as it has already been fully cited before but it doesn't and cite the full list of authors again (smith, johnson & dupont, 1984). It is only after the third citation that Reference Manager uses the "et al" (this only happens when I am using the "edit citation" option). Has anyone experienced this problem before and found a way around it? Thanks Souhila
