auto input?
Author: Matthew Langholtz    Posted: Fri, 21 Oct 2005 13:00:00 -0800

I've been using RM 9.5 for a few years, and my database has ~1,000
references. I recently installed RM on my new machine. Previously,
when I inserted a new reference, as I started to type in the author's
name(s) or keywords, I was given auto-input options of authors and
keywords already in my database. It's not working for me now. How can
re-engage the auto-fill for Authors and Keywords?
Thanks,
Matthew Langholtz

Hello Matthew,

Go into the Tools Menu and choose Options. Click on the General Tab.
Make sure there is a tick next to Automatic Popup Browser.

Cheers
Sally

Ah, back from 8 days in hospital to something I can answer!

Go to F11, General, and make sure "Automatic Popup Browser" (at the
bottom) is checked ON.

Far as I know, that should fix your problem.

Hi Matthew.
Could it be that you are using a second screen? The popup browser only works on the primary screen.

You probably have your database open in Read-Write-Shared mode (this is the default mode for networked RefMan). You need to be in Read-Write-Exclusive mode. To do this, close the database, go to File/Open, navigate to the database, click on it ONCE (to select but not open it). Then down on the bottom right, where you see "Read-Write-Shared" displayed, click on the down arrow and select the Exclusive option. Open the database, and you should be able to deal with the Term Manager. This enables certain other features, too.

SV: SV: auto input? To Sven-Erik Strand

To Sven-Erik Strand

To activate Term Manager you have to open your database with Read-Write Exclusive Access Rights. File/Open Databse/Access Rights(Read-Write Exclusive).

When you open the database in read-write exclusive mode you can activate term manager. The default is to open in read-write shared mode, which means you can't activate term manager. Close the database and re-open in the exclusive mode. (An irritating aspect of RM11, as each time you re-open RM, you have to actively re-open the database, rahter than clicking on the list of recently used files.
