How to Disable a Mandatory Field???
Author: Al Goyette    Posted: Wed, 29 Mar 2006 16:35:00 -0800

In Ref Mgr 11, how does one

Disable a "Mandatory Field" so that nothing needs to be entered in that
field?

Thanks, Al

Be sure to have Read-Write Exclusive rights to the RM11 database.

Select Tools-->Field and Type Edit. In the top-right box select the reference type you want to edit. Then go to the Field Label Edit box and remove the check mark in the M (=mandatory) column correspondng to the field you wish to edit.

Best wishes
Niels

Not difficult

Open the database in read-write exclusive mode

Then pick Field and type edit from the tools menu. This gives you the
option of choosing which fields are mandatory for each reference type.

Best wishes

Al,

Open your database with the Read-Write Exclusive access right In the Tools menu, go to Field and Type Edit

In that window you will be able to select for each Reference Type the fields that are mandatory or not.

You can apply those selections to the database open or set it as default.

Sincerely,

Al,

Further to replies that you have received you will need to open the
database in Read-Write Exclusive to access the relevant options.

Product Reviews

"Overall, Reference Manager is an excellent citation manager. It is simple enough to be used out of the box and not too intimidating for a new user. Equally, though, it contains enough powerful features and customisation to satisfy advanced users."
Information World Review

"It's highly recommended for anyone needing a powerful reference tool."
