Hello:
I am currently doing some testing before our organization goes "live" with RM11. One of the biggest areas of impact will be with documents that are currently mid-stream through the writing and editing phase. I have taken a number of documents of varying sizes to test how they convert and how the in-text citations are updated.
I have had some problems with every document that I have moved forward if references in that document was left in the coded/formatted version. I think I have found a way to isolate and fix these problems but it is time consuming and irritating and requires careful proof-reading to ensure everything has converted and updated correctly. However, if, from my existing PC and using RM9.5, I UNFORMAT CITATIONS in an existing, 9,5 document and then REVERT TO ORIGINAL TEXT before trying to update the document in RM11 (even if using an unconverted 9.5 database on the test server), I have been successful every time, even with a very large report (~100 p.).
Note that I am using RM11 on a separate machine and on a separate server so there should be no conflict between the 9.5 install and the RM11 install (plus we ensured that any previous versions of RM that might have been on this test server and machine were properly uninstalled).
I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences, particular those who are moving from 9.5 to 11 without installing RM11 as an interim upgrade.
Also, any feedback as to your experiences (technical, training, timings) in implementing such an upgrade would be interesting, as RM is used extremely intensively in our organization.
