RefViz 2.1 Beta Test
Author: RefvizBeta    Posted: Tues, 26 Jul 2005 15:40:00 -0800

OmniViz, Inc., the producer of RefViz(TM) for Thomson ResearchSoft, is
looking for Web of Science(SM)users whose access to the Web of Science
site requires token authentication (i.e. a username and password) to
participate in a limited beta test.

RefViz 2.0, released last Spring, introduced Reference Retriever(TM),
which allows the user to simultaneously search, from a single query
interface, multiple content providers (PubMed, Web of Science, Ovid,
OCLC, and other online sites). In addition to supporting access to the
Web of Science for users at institutions that use IP address based
authentication, RefViz is now adding access for users who must use token
based access to the Web of Science.

RefViz is a reference visualization and analysis software program
designed to help researchers evaluate references easily, plan future
projects, and publish their work. RefViz provides users with a powerful
way to explore reference literature visually, analyzing large numbers of
references by thematic content and presenting an at-a-glance overview of
the main topics discussed in the reference set. RefViz can be used as a
stand alone reference analysis tool, or in conjunction with EndNote,
Reference Manager, or ProCite, enabling the passing of reference
information between the two programs. Reference Retriever greatly
expands the ability to find relevant references through its interface
that supports searching of and retrieval from multiple databases at
once.

Beta testing is scheduled to begin the week of July 25, and will consist
of a single, one week testing cycle specifically to verify the ability
to access the Web of Science via Reference Retriever using a specific
username and password. Beta testers will receive a free copy of RefViz
2.1 when it is released. To qualify for this beta test, you must access
your Web of Science account via token authentication from a location
that is not covered by any IP based authentication.

Interested individuals should send an email to "refvizbeta"
for additional details.

Product Reviews

"Overall, Reference Manager is an excellent citation manager. It is simple enough to be used out of the box and not too intimidating for a new user. Equally, though, it contains enough powerful features and customisation to satisfy advanced users."
Information World Review

"It's highly recommended for anyone needing a powerful reference tool."
