Hi,
We have a document that has gone through several reviewers, some who use
RefMan, others who don't. At one point in the process we attempted to
remove the field codes so that any changes would be made manually and no
longer connected to a RefMan database. Whereas it appeared that the cord
had been cut, it hadn't and when users opened the document, a whole new
set of references would be added at the end as if RefMan was still
working.
I can not figure out how to do it other than just move all the text
into a .txt file and then replace in a Word Document. But that isn't
going to happen due to formatting issues.
My one sneaking suspicion is that when MS Word Comments were added to
the reference section (basically indicating missing information in a
reference bibliography), that it somehow made it impossible to truly cut
the cord between refman and Word.
Is there any foolproof way of knowing or doing this? Anyone else
encounter problems?
I know RefMan is still active because there is some coding still visible
and when rt. clicking on a reference, it allows us to still edit the
field --and it highlights the entire section of references.
And finally--has anyone written guidelines on Document Flow and RefMan
use? We have some informal guidelines, but it has been very problematic
in a collaborative environment.
