Hi
Is there a maximum number of characters per field permitted in Ref Man
10?
Is there any way of increasing the default number?
I need to import ISI records, some of which have upwards of 50 authors
and separate addresses.

I believe that information is in the manual, but my manual appears to
have wandered away. For 9.5 (the manual I CAN find), the rules were
this:
1. You can have an unlimited number of author fields, but each field has
a max of 255 characters.
2. To be a separate field, the name must be preceeded by AU, 2 spaces, a
hyphen, and 1 space.
3. If a data source simply lumps all the authors into one AU field, you
have a problem. However, if that were the case you could not search for
authors separately--which you certainly can do with ISI.
4. Make sure you are exporting with "Export to Reference Software". If
you are mailing items to yourself, make sure you have the "Field Tagged"
option checked.
