No popup browser
Author: Peter Malling    Posted: Thur, 09 Aug 2005 15:30:00 -0800

Hi all
I just sent a mail about that I didn't get the automatic popup browser
anymore. I explored the issue some more. I can't even get it by pressing
F3, and this goes for all three fields Authors, Keywords and
Periodicals. It also goes for all my databases, also newly created
databases, and I have tried to rebuild a database, but it didn't change
anything. I also tried to reboot the computer. No effect.

I can bring up the term manager with F5, but the popup browser seems to
have ceased to exist at my computer. This is really, really weird! I
still notes if an entered term exists in the term list, and colors it
accordingly.

I really hope that somebody can help, as this is extremely tedious. I
haven't been able to find anything about equivalent problems on the
Internet or in newsgroups.

I've been moving the data back and forth between two computers - could
this have anything to do with it? But I always copied both the .rmd and
the .rmx file, and as mentioned above, I've tried to rebuild the
database, which should have helped, if they were somehow corrupted...

Regards,
Peter.

Hi,

Peter, are you using a second monitor? RefMan must run on the primary
monitor to be able to get the popup browser ... Why, I have no idea.
It's what RefMan support told me.

I started seeing identical symptoms about a week ago that persist. I've
checked the same things you did and can't figure out what caused this,
but I'd really like to get it fixed. I'm running RM11.0.0 (bld 359)
Network edition (but only accessing files locally) on Win XP Pro.

Tools/Options/General/make sure "Automatic Popup Browser" is checked.
You may have to close RefMan after you OK this and reopen it for the
change to take effect.

I remember having sent out a mail explaining that this is exactly the
case. I need to be on the primary screen in order to use the popup
browser.

I got the hint from a very responsive ISI support, and it's working like
a breeze now again - just that I keep RM on the primary screen

...which is of course appauling.
