Why don't I get page numbers in my in-text citations?
In the output style, I've added page numbers both in First and Subsequent
citations: <[04]*Authors,*primary>|<[05]*Date,*primary>|:*<Page*Numbers>
Of course, I can add the page numbers as a suffix, but the correct way must
be to have in the "pages" field in the "edit citation" box (or using the @
parameter). But that field is left out when the citations are formatted.

Sorry to bother you with all these mails about page numbers, but I just get
more and more puzzled.
Now it seems that if there is no in-text page numbers, it shows the page
numbers from the reference, and if there IS in-text page numbers, these are
shown instead.
But I never want the page numbers from the reference to be shown in the
in-text citation, these should be shown in the bibliography only, and I only
want page numbers from the citation to be shown in the in-text citation (if
they exist). Can't I make RefMan behave like this?
I use RM10 and Word2003

Peter.

| Page numbers in in-text citations - PROBLEM SOLVED |

At last I solved the problem with in-text citations:
I worked on another output style than the style activitated in Word. So it
was correct, that I just needed to insert the Page Numbers field in the
output style definition.

Peter.

Hi Peter,
We came across the same "problem" but according to ISI Researchsoft,
this is how it should work.
The "Pages" field corresponds to a field in the output style that has to
specifically be added to the citation template, and in most cases it doesn't
show up in the output styles. Generally this is used for footnote citations
where the cited pages show up in the middle of the citation, so the suffix
and prefix options would not work properly.
If you want to include page numbers with a citation, the easiest way to do
it
is to edit the citation and add them to the suffix field.
Regards
Sally

| Page numbers in in-text citations: New problems |

Well, I thought I had solved the problem, getting page numbers in my
citations. But it turns out, that the page numbers gets there correctly, but
then after a few seconds (or after I've browsed to the bibliography), the
page numbers disappear again. I have both a page range in the reference (to
be shown in the bibliography, which works OK), and then the page number for
the specific citation (which disappears again).
Any ideas what is the problem now?

I never got page numbers (@... in the in-text citations (ITC)) to work
in RM10, but I wonder if it has been easier in RM11?
Do anybody have luck in getting the page numbers, and in that case, how
does your ITC output style look like? If somebody has a style that
actually works, putting in the page numbers correctly, I would be
grateful to if you could mail it to me. At least, it doesn't work in the
APA5 style, that I presently use.
I know that this can be done by suffixes in the ITC, but I think this is
not-so-beautiful work-around that I would like to avoid.
Regards,
Peter.
