Hello
I use either versions 9.5 or 11, both networked, and have been asked to import references from a database created by Idealist (Blackwell). Has anyone got an import filter or had any positive experience with this?
Many thanks

I have had this problem when I leave the output style editing window open.
I like to do that if I am still working on the style - tweaking it, if you will. I have found that if I minimize the window without closing it, I won't get this message and the style is still "open" for me to work on.
Not sure if this is the problem you're describing, but if it is, this solution works for me.

<RefMan> Sharing Violation on Output Style
Hello:
We are getting this error more often.
"A sharing violation occurred while accessing H:\Reference Manager\Network\Program\Styles\Vancouver-new.os"
Our use of RM has increased significantly in the last few months due to growth in our organization. Often you can just click the error away but sometimes it continues until another user exits the software.
I've had some discussions with RM Tech Support in the past but we've never really found the source of the problem. Is anyone else experiencing it?
We use RM9.5 on the network - just about to upgrade to RM11.
Thanks for your help.

Subject: <RefMan> Cite while you write question
Hi,
I am new to this group and to Reference Manager. We have a network
version of RM10. My office computer is Windows XP Professional and I
have MS-Office 2002 package installed. I am trying to use the "Cite
while you write" option to insert citation in the text (in MS Word).
Although the "cite while you write" preferences say "Author, year"
format, when I insert the citation, it only shows the author name and
does not show the year.
This is the same case even when I use a different computer with Windows
2000 and MS Office 2000 package.
Am I doing something wrong? Could someone help please?
Thanks,
Prakash

Subject: <RefMan> Page numbers in in-text citations
I never got page numbers (@... in the in-text citations (ITC)) to work
in RM10, but I wonder if it has been easier in RM11?
Do anybody have luck in getting the page numbers, and in that case, how
does your ITC output style look like? If somebody has a style that
actually works, putting in the page numbers correctly, I would be
grateful to if you could mail it to me. At least, it doesn't work in the
APA5 style, that I presently use.
I know that this can be done by suffixes in the ITC, but I think this is
not-so-beautiful work-around that I would like to avoid.
Regards,
Peter.

I remember having sent out a mail explaining that this is exactly the
case. I need to be on the primary screen in order to use the popup
browser.
I got the hint from a very responsive ISI support, and it's working like
a breeze now again - just that I keep RM on the primary screen
...which is of course appauling.

Tools/Options/General/make sure "Automatic Popup Browser" is checked.
You may have to close RefMan after you OK this and reopen it for the
change to take effect.

Hi.
I just found out myself how to make page numbers work.
In the output style, on the in-text citations, you add the <Page
Numbers> field. Like this:
<[04]*Authors,*primary>|<[05]*Date,*primary>|<Page*Numbers>
In Properties & Page Numbers, I note the preceding text, e.g. a colon,
for both Single Page Number and Page Range.
Remember to "Generate Bibliography" in CWYW
And then it WORKS! I got my page numbers, wow!
/Peter.

Subject: <RefMan> what is wrong with database editor?
Hi,
freshly installed Reference Manger v. 11, I lost access to synonyms in the Term manager and functions as "Global edit" and "Purge" are not working.
Dialog window "Tool - Options" often generate an error "The parameter is incorrect" and whole RM peg out :-(
Has anybody an idea "WHY???"
With best regards,
Ed
