Many thanks to Linda Price and Lucie Comeau for the comments about
RefViz and Onfolio.
As feedback:
RefViz:
I made the upgrade from RefViz v.1 to v.2, and upgraded RM v.10 (no Data
Visualization command) to RM v.11.
Refviz indeed works seamlessly from within RM11 and there's no need for
drag and drop.
As a visualization tool it is most remarquable.
I should have asked and done these upgrades sooner!
Onfolio:
This is a search/collect/organizing tool for online web pages.
Part of my confusion was that Onfolio was acquired by Microsoft last
month at the time I received ResearchSoft's flyer.
It is now available as an Add-in for "Windows Live Toolbar beta".
It's original bibliographic feature (searching online references and
synchronizing with EndNote) has been split.
In order to find the bibliographic module, one has to follow the Onfolio
download links and then select "Windows Live Academic beta". Usually I'm
paranoid at the idea of using beta software, but made the jump last
week.
These are great tools!
Again thanks for the very useful comments.
Vincent

Vincent,
I agree that RefViz v2 (and now there is v2.1) is very attractive but,
unlike you, I have had a great experience. RefViz has become an
integral part of my bibliography workflow.
As far as I know, RefViz was never designed to allow you to drag a
RefMan library onto the application. Rather, from within RefMan you use
the Data Visualization menu command to send all or selected references
to RefViz. Then, from within RefViz, you can send "Send References
to...Bibliogprahy Manager".
These days, my work is almost always to start within RefViz since I can
search multiple data sources simultaneously. What a big time savings
that is! And, I find the visualization to be the only way I can
assimilate the references in my field. Then, I send the references of
importance to RefMan very easily. My colleagues do the same with
EndNote.
Would it be nice to drag-and-drop a RM or EN library? Sure, but that
just isn't critical, especially with the searching being done from
RefViz.
Linda
