I have a customer using ProCite 5.03 with Word 2003 and Windows XP
Professional edition. We can see ProCite from the Tools menu in Word,
but when we try to use the 'Insert Citations' command (or any other
command) absolutely nothing happens. Has anyone else experienced this
problem? We have the right files in the Word Startup directory, so I
can't figure out what the problem could be.
Thanks,
Bill McLeod

Hello,
Have you tried downloading & installing the "new" CWYW ProCite patch for
MS-Word XP?
http://www.procite.com/support/pc5wordupd.asp
I don't remember if it included on the ProCite cd-rom.

That's odd. I have the same set of system + applications (MS Word 2003; Win
XP Pro; PC 5.0.3; and it works).
When you uninstall ProCite, do the menu commands disappear? Could multiple
incomplete installations/de-installations be part of the problem? There
are several StartUp folders...perhaps another would work?
There is also an online patch. Have you installed that?
It's at http://www.procite.com/support/pcwpcompat.asp at the link
http://www.procite.com/support/pc5wordupd.asp
Good luck!

I had a similar problem with ProCite and Word 2000. They were compatible one day, and then stopped working the next. I contacted the ResearchSoft Customer Technical Support. They asked me to open Word, click on the "Tools" drop down menu, and choose "Templates and Add-ins" -- take note of what is listed below where it says "Checked items are currently loaded". It turned out that I had an add-in file (FlashPaper from installing Contribute3) that was causing the ProCite commands to be non-functional. This program is part of the Macromedia Contribute software package, and the only way to get this add-in not to load, would be to reinstall Contribute without the FlashPaper component. Here's a link on the Macromedia site of how one would do such a thing-
http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?event=view&id=KC.tn_19596&extid=tn_19596&dialogID=4624483&iterationID=1&sessionID=9630da04e94d21104f2b&stateID=0%200%204626988&mode=simple
After this add-in file was no longing loading in Word, the ProCite commands worked just fine.
There are other programs, such as SnagIt, Dragonspeak, etc. An indicator of a conflicting add-in file is when the ProCite commands are non-functional, and there are other add-ins loading in Word.
Hope this helps,

Everyone, and especially Tammy Owings,
Thanks for your help! The solution (for this user) was to uninstall
Snag-It, which this user had installed on her machine just last week. As
Tammy detailed below, by going to the "Templates and Add-ins" selection
from the Tools menu in Word, I was quickly able to determine that
Snag-It was an additional add-in that might be interfering with the
proper functioning of CWYW.
Thanks, Tammy!

are there archives on this list?
i had the same problem, and eventually told a few other people how to solve it a couple of years ago (after contacting support)
turns out one of the files was put in the wrong directory
if you don't manage to fix it by using the other suggestions, let me know, and i will see if i can figure out which file has to be moved
