I found few shortcuts to quickly enter citations with "Additional Text" in
CWYW in Word 2000, something I do a dozen times everyday. I would like to
share my findings with you.
As you probally know, Procite allows to add reference link with additionnal
information, such as:
Huntington, 1993 /ft ":25-29"
Morris & Rycus, 1988 /pt "Page 20, "
Tocqueville, 1976 /ft ": vol.2, 162-216"
The cumbersome task is, however, to type the /ft ":xxx" sequence, which is
very error-prone. When I make a mistake, it takes time and many steps to
correct it.
Another thing that bothers me is that there is no Procite key shortcut for
the Insert Citation feature. I have to grab my mouse and move the pointer to
the toolbar (many users don't bother much, but I am very keyboard
oriented... ;-) )
Thanks to Word 2000 customization, I found easy way to bypass these
limitations and enhance my productivity by creating contextual and keyboard
shortcuts
Procedures below explain how to:
A) create a contextual shortcut to add Additional Text for a reference
B) create a shortcut key to add Additional Text for a reference
C) create a contextual shortcut and assign a shortcut key for the Insert
Citation function
(N.B.: "Contextual shortcut menu" (also call properties menu) appears when
you right-click.
"Shortcut key" means simply a "keyboard shortcut".
