Hello,
Does anybody have Procite output styles for "Aquaculture" and "Aquaculture
Nutrition" Journals (any other Aquaculture related journal will also be
welcomed)? As far as I can see they are not included in Procite's Official
Output Styles list.
I know that they are available for EndNote but I couldn't find a way to
import them to Procite 5. Is there a way?
I could probably configure the output styles myself but I wouldn't like to
reinvent the wheel; so if they are available I would appreciate it if I
could I have a copy.
I am using Procite 5, Word 2003, windows XP.
Thank you in advance
Cheers
Vasilis

Vasilis,
These two POS don't appear on the website
(http://www.procite.com/support/pcstyles.asp?SORT=0&PLAT=0&PAGE=5&METH=0&DIS
C=none) but supposedly you can request them here:
http://www.procite.com/support/pcstylereq.asp
I wonder: Has anyone ever successfully requested a new output style there?

For a related question, does anyone have an output style that supports the
creation of th Bibtex data base?
Thanks

Jeffrey (and others who may have a similar interest)
I have been using TeX/LaTeX/BibTeX since 1989, and ProCite since 2000. I think ProCite is easily the best thing around for what it does; but since I write articles and papers using LaTeX, this has always been a problem. It has meant re-creating BibTeX refs in the .bib file when I come to cite them, which is extra work.
So, I asked myself your question not too long ago---and found that no-one had anything even remotely of use to me. :-( (I now know why; but read on...)
Therefore, I decided to go ahead and write my own output style for BibTeX export. (I've written .pos files before, and even have my own "1-pager" format for references which I print to keep with papers I'm writing, rather than lugging all the refs around). It turns out to have been a much, much bigger job than I thought... I looked at EndNote (ptui!) and how it does BibTeX output, to get some ideas about how to proceed.
I soon found that I needed to either modify most of the existing ProCite workforms in order for this to work or create new ones. In doing so, I have burned all bridges back to the hundreds of existing output styles available in ProCite. Be very, very sure you want to do this, because, like the Dark Side of the Force, \begin{YodaVoice} once you start down this path, forever will it rule your destiny ... \end{YodaVoice} :-)
Eventually all of your modified and new workforms will have to map into the 13 BibTeX ref types (12 if you think Mastersthesis is unnecessary). Given that I can't see how it can be done properly with the standard workforms (for example, how do you produce either an author={} or an editor={} field as appropriate out of Book Whole?), I also can't see how one person's modified implementation would be suitable for someone else. This is why it is very, very unlikely that someone else's implementation of this would be of use to you. Sadly :-(
I couldn't find a sensible way to generate an entire bib file automatically and correctly, so what I do is generate a single BibTeX entry (in the preview window) each time I need one I don't already have in the main .bib file, copy it and paste it into the file, then make the few editing changes which still remain necessay for most of them. I use the Record ID as a unique identifier, which becomes the BibTeX label in the .bib file. It is the master key which identifies a reference, independently of whether it lives in ProCite or in a BibTeX .bib file.
This is a very-much-less-than-optimal solution, and far from automatic; a real stinker of a kludge if ever there was one. But I cannot see another way to do it. But, at least it removes most of the duplication of effort.
If anyone else has done so, I'm all ears :-)
Cheers.

Hi Laurel,
Thanks for your help. I sent a request for these two new output styles, but
so far I haven't got a reply (not even a confirmation that they received my
request or something). So I set up the pos myself - configuring only the few
workforms that I use most.
Cheers
