Please excuse me if this question is naive. I am a newcomer to this list and
I have never been involved in bibliography in any professional capacity.
I would be interested in knowing whether a particular kind of service I have
in mind (or something similar to it) is available anywhere: let's call it
"batch processing of ISBN number lists".
The idea would be the following: the user would build a list containing only
ISBN numbers; then he would send the list to a server containing an ISBN
database; the server would return:
(1) a file containing the bibliographical data of the books whose ISBN
numbers are mentioned in the list and whose records have been found in the
database; this file would be in a format allowing reuse of the data, e.g. a
tab-delimited text file;
(2) a file containing the ISBN numbers whose records have *not* been found in
the database; this unprocessed part of the original list could later be sent
to different databases for completion.
Am I dreaming or is this possible?
Kind regards,
Santiago del Pino
