Greetings,

I have a question that I'm sure is simply
answered somewhere but cannot find.

We have a word processing operator who is not
familiar with ProCite. We would like to find/choose
a text file import/export format that would allow
her to export, edit in Wordperfect and re-import.
It would also allow her to edit existing lists
into a procite database.

What do any of you recommend?

Thanks,
John

Dear John,

If I were doing it, I'd use a spreadsheet like Excel instead. You
can export from ProCite in tab- or comma-delimited text format. The
spreadsheet will keep each field in the correct order in a separate column.
Editing is straightforward and the resulting file can then be re-imported
without dramas.

Best wishes,

Peter Mayer

Colleagues
Perhaps some kind, informed soul can help! I am trying to access a z39.50
gateway using ProCite, to no avail. I can access the catalog using Icone and
retrieve records. Bookwhere can see the site but cannot retrieve records.
ProCite cannot see the site and returns an error message "Server Not
Responding." If anyone wishes to try it out, the IP address is 136.201.111.1
and the database is called adop. All help greatly appreciated.

Dr. Breen,

I tried configuring this site and received a connection refused
message in the log file. The most likely causes are:

* the Z39.50 server is not running
* additional configuration parameters are required
* the site requires a username and password

For any of those problems you will need to contact the administrator
of the site to resolve the problem.

Bob,
I noticed your reply to this researcher and thought I would ask
whether LC plans to order the Procite 5 anytime soon. I would like to
download citations from the subscription databases but I have not been
able to do so using Procite 4.
Thanks.
