I have had a particular problem when printing out in Chicago A.
Numerous attempts by the techies at RIS have not resolved the issue.
When I print out Book, Long with no author/editor, the Title always
prints out with an open quote. I want the open quote removed. Does
anyone on the list have specicific instrutions? TIA.

The Chicago A output style has a number of peculiarities. I have been able
to solve most of the problems by modifying it. I'm not too good at
creating a style from scratch, but I have gone to a broadly similar style
(the MLA) and replaced the offending elements of Chicago A with pieces of
code from MLA. I know it sounds primitive, but it works -- more or less.

Dear Dr. Silverberg:

We were only able to reproduce your symptoms by only having a title
in the 09 Monographic field. If that is the case for your reference
as well then the following change to your Chicago A output style will
fix this issue:

Place a | after the grouping operator which comes before the "<04
Title, Analytic>" field (see sample below) This will force procite
to look for data in the 04 title field and if it isn't there will skip
the puncutation.

Chicago A:Book, Long Definition:

|Rec# <Record Number>. |<<<01 Author, Analytic>|, <02 Author Role,
Analytic>|. >>|"<04 Title, Analytic>."| <06 Connective Phrase>| <09
Title, Monographic>|, <08 Author Role, Monographic> |<07 Author,
Monographic>|, <17 Author Role, Subsidiary> |<16 Author, Subsidiary>|,
<25 Page(s)>|. <15 Edition> ed.| <26 Extent of Work> |<27 Packaging
Method>|. <32 Series Title>, |<31 Series Editor Role> |<30 Series
Editor>, |<33 Series Volume ID>|. <18 Place of Publication>: |<19
Publisher Name>, |<20 Date of Publication>|.| <42 Notes>.| <43
Abstract>.| <44 Call Number>.| <45 Keywords>.
