Problem converting EndNote library to ProCite
Author: Christiane Voisin    Posted: Thu, 19 Aug 2004 09:05:31 -0400
Hello,

I am trying to convert a database that a colleague created in EndNote to
ProCite 5.0. I think all of her records were hand-entered and there are 260
records. I have been able to open and save other EndNote files with this
copy of ProCite, but for some reason this particular library causes ProCite
to shut down every time. Has anyone ever had this happen? Any solution you
can think of? Thanks in advance. I get the following error message:

PROCITE5 caused an invalid page fault in
module MFC42.DLL at 017f:5f4040e0.

Hello,
this may be caused by faulty Windows library file.
Check this on, e.g., the page:
http://www.techadvice.com/w98/M/mfc42_dll.htm
or in another place in the Internet.
Maybe updating of the Windows will be of direct help to this problem.

Thanks to you and also to the librarian at the San Antonio VA. I was too
afraid to mess with the Windows system on my own, but I wanted to respond
about how the problem was resolved in case it comes up for others.

I checked with Tech Support and their first idea was to save the library
using "Recover library" under the tools menu and try to convert the saved
library.

When that didn't work, I mailed them the library to diagnose the problem,
and they were able to convert it by first shortening the name of the file.
Something so simple! (It went down from WorkforcePolicyFile_inprogress.enl
to WorkforcePolicy.enl.)
