Hello List,

First the parameters of my system:

System: Compaq Presario 2100, Win XP
Ver. Procite 4.0.3
Application: I am using Procite for more than 10 years now. My main application has changed from bibliography to storing and editing (search and replace) large amounts of OCRed pages of books and transfer of records between "raw", "partially edited" and "finalized" databases (about 100000 to 300000 records with 90 MB PDT-files and 300 MB PDX-files (rebuilding time: overnight).

To my surprise the SEARCH funktion of ProCite did not work anymore when I booted up my computer this morning (upon clicking, the search button changed appearance but no search was effectuated).

I deinstalled ProCite and reinstalled it again. Result: The SEARCH funktion still did not work.

I did a search on files that had been changed during yesterdays session: I had installed StarOffice 5.2. ....

After deinstalling StarOffice and rebooting, ProCite worked as!
it should !

"Fascinating, Captain."

Take home message: ProCite may be influenced by other programs. This may not be limited to XP.

Greetings from Alsace (37°C)!
