Our PILOTS database has about 16,000 records, and we have never =
experienced any problems because of its size.

re: database size
Our largest database has about 27,000 records. No problems on
ProCite. You may have to re-index the database just before installing
in RWP if your RWP is running on a different PC than the one you
compiled the ProCite database in originally. Apparently larger
databases will crash otherwise.
Another caveat about large RWP databases: they're SLOW!

This is a question of considerable interest to me, and I assume to others
as well.
I am compiling a large database in ProCite (version 3, Windows 95) that
now has about 6600 records, and if there is a size limitation in the
program, I'd certainly like to know about it.
A text version of the database can be seen at my Web site "English
Literature and Religion":

I am thinking about making it available on the site through Reference Web
Poster but have not taken the leap yet.

solved it?

I cannot comment on the page break problem mentioned by Carol other than to
say changing the page size when sending the print command from Print
Bibliography. Also use of Find & Replace of a hard page break might be a
useful ploy after importing the rich text file into a word processor.
As regards the DB size, I have had no difficulty in using of databases
around the 8k record size, even with ProCite 2.x.
Running NT4 with service pack 5, I routinely use (several times a day) run
ProCite 4.03 DB's exceeding 30k records and I have one now of 53k records
which has a hard disc usage close to 250Mb. This has been built up in the
same way as Carol indicates. I use a RAM of 256Mb. In Carol's situation I
would use "Repair DB" before further activity.

Subject: Two ProCite questions - help, please
Hello,
I am hoping someone on this list will be able to help with two questions.
Here goes:
1. How, in ProCite 4.03, is it possible to generate a bibliography that will
not insert a page break in mid-reference?
2. Is there a database size limit, and if so, is it possible to override
that limit? One of my researchers has a large database (8000+ records) and
has been building it by copying smaller databases into it. This worked fine
until late last week when a Dr. Watson error message was received and
ProCite crashed. Has anyone expericenced this - or better yet, solved it?
Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.
