Dear MUG,
Please note that we are continuing to accept applications for the position
below. The starting date is negotiable.
Waterloo Maple Inc has an opening for a full-time position as "Senior Developer,
Mathematical Software".
The successful candidate will be a senior member of the mathematical development
team, which is responsible for all Maple library development. He or she will
have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the future development of
the Maple system, which is being used by more than one million people worldwide.
Responsibilities
----------------------
- Design and implement advancements in the symbolic and numeric parts of the
Maple libraries.
- Lead project teams and mentor more junior developers.
- Work in cooperation with participating research labs around the world.
Job Requirements
----------------
- A PhD in mathematics with a strong background in computer science, or a PhD in
computer science accompanied by strong mathematical skills.
- 5 years of experience in mathematical software development.
- Background in symbolic and numeric computing.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with Maple (or other mathematical software systems) would be a
strong asset.
- Experience as project lead would be an asset.
