[MUG] Error(?) in labels on postscript export (Maple 7)
Author: Robert Chaffer    Posted: 30/07/2001 20:34:48 GDT
>> From: Robert Chaffer "robert.a.chaffer"

I have just installed Maple 7 on my Power Mac G4 (OS 9.1) after
having used Maple 6. A simple test:

> f:=x->3*x-x^3;

> plot(f(x),x=-4..4,y=-4..4);

and then "Export" to EPS of the resulting plot produced a result
(viewed using Illustrator 9) which shows negative signs on the axes
tic labels replaced by +/-. The GIF export does not exhibit this
problem and Maple 6 does not have the problem.

A second difference from version 6 is that the plot fills a full 8.5
by 11 page rather than being scaled to match the plot as displayed by
Maple.

Any explanations?

I can't reproduce this behaviour on our Power Macintosh 7600/132
with OS 9.1.
We don't have Illustrator 9, but viewing the file with Ghostscript
on Windows or Unix inhibits no such bugs.

Product Reviews

"Without the Maple software, we would have to spend weeks generating the equations of motion for every experiment. Then the chances that we did it right would basically be near zero. There would always be a mistake somewhere. It is very difficult to set up a dynamic motion model by hand."
- Jean-Claude PiedBeouf, Ph.D Manager of Robotics, Canadian Space Agency

"Its very good - highly accurate and easy to use. The speed of Maple allows me to change equations and quickly reintegrate them into the application, so more possibilities can be explored to achieve the precise effect desired."
Shawn Neely, Senior R & D Director for PDI/Dreamworks
