I have had a variety of problems printing from Maple. Part of the problem in
fixing things is that it involves a collection of computers, operating systems,
Maple releases and printer drivers.
My solution is to export the worksheet as RTF and read and print it from Word.

fixed by self by installing a real HP driver
rather than the out-of-the-box-but-pretty-good-MS
printer driver.

I assume you are really printing using standard math output and used
character-based output only for the purposes of this email.
I regularly print Maple worksheets using an HP LJ4M printer and I have not
noticed any problems recently, although I do dimly recall problems of this
nature many years ago. One suggestion is to check whether there are updated
printer drivers available, either from HP or from your OS vendor, e.g.
Microsoft if you use MS Windows. This printer can be driven using either
PostScript or HP's own PCL. I prefer the results of using PostScript, but
if one causes problems them I suggest trying the other. In fact, I also
have an Adobe PostScript printer driver installed. I use the Adobe driver
for printing 2-up and the non-Adobe PostScript driver for printing 1-up.
These drivers are all freely available, at least for MS Windows.
