[mathcad] Weird editor bugs (again)
Author: Andy Spragg    Posted: Fri, 23 Sep 2005 15:26:08 +0100
I'm working with Mathcad 2000 at the moment - we had a copy going spare,
and it was a lot closer to my colleaagues than the v7 I have been
stubbornly sticking to these last few years, so I decided to make use of
it. No problems so far, until today - but then I haven't stressed it until
today. Actually, what I've been doing today shouldn't have been
particularly stressful - simple symbolic stuff - but stressful compared to
what I've used it for thus far. Anyway ...

... I've discovered this "interesting" bug in the equation editor. I'd be
surprised (but not amazed) if it's not known about, but I don't recall it
being aired before. I'm editing an equation (with symbolic equals, not
evaluation equals) - just manually regrouping some terms - and trying to
delete a placeholder (using the delete key on the keyboard). Three times
now, Mathcad has just instanteously shut itself down as a result. Not
crashed, just made a sharp exit - as if Delete was a (red)hotkey. One
time, Windows even asked me if I wanted to send blahblah.mcd to the
Recycle Bin ...

So now I'm proceeding very carefully, saving every few seconds, and
keeping my fingers crossed. Does anyone know anything about this bug?

Andy
