Dear Mike, Dave, Troyer and others,

thank you for your help. I contacted my local Mathcad support team
and they suggested me:

1) To verify that Microsoft .NET Framework(r) 1.1, MSXML 4 and MDAC 2.6
are installed (everything ok)

2) to get Mathcad 12 running by executing the register command (Run
"C:\Program Files\Mathsoft\Mathcad 12\mathcad.exe" /register) (and it
gives me an error "Failed to register mcm\pushbu~1.mcm")

3) Then thay suggested me to launch Mathcad 12, but it crashed again
after a file-opening

4) Then they suggested me to delete the directory l2 (but again the
Mathcad 12 crashed)

5) Then they suggested me to uninstall Mathcad 12 and re-install it.

Have you got any other suggestions?

Thank you very much again.

Ragards,

Alberto

It sounds like this may be the old "corrupted cache file"
problem. You need to delete the corrupted cache folder called "12". It
gets re-generated next time you re-start. Its located here ...

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Mathsoft\Mathcad

Make sure that your file view setting allows hidden folders and
files to be displayed, or you won't see it. Delete the "12" folder, then
run Mathcad. Files should then open.

I would like to know the solution to this myself. On my desktop
PC, I get the same problem whereas on my laptop PC there is no problem.
On my desktop, it first started with being unable to insert script
objects.

Then, on 'repairing' Mathcad 12 from Control Panel, I cannot
open anything.
