[MATHCAD] another bug
Author: Kenneth R Foster    Posted: Tue, 14 Sep 1999 14:21:26 -0400
there is another bug with ver. 8 that leads to incorrect answers -- if you
change units in a calculation, the calculation sometimes will not update.

Turn off the optimization, and type

fathom:= 6*ft
A:= 1*fathom
A=

the program gives the correct results.
Then type

A= *mm

(i.e. ask for the results in mm)
the program will not update the result if you change the value of A in the
earlier line.

Mathsoft has known about this since June, but has not corrected it yet.
Gave me lots of trouble!

SV: [MATHCAD] another bug
Author: Lars-Erik Nilsson    Posted: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 08:09:51 +0200
Unfortunately I find that it is quite common that Mathcad ver8.03 forgetts to recalculate parts of the worksheet.
Especially if I have been doing a lot of editing I will very often find that some equations are not recalculated or some graphs not updated. F9 does not help. However "Recalcluate Worksheet" does seem to help. It is however very disturbing no to be able to trust the results due to such an "easy to fix" (I imagine) software bug.

There is a possibly related issue I run into when editing. Fairly innocent
cut and paste operation will give me a total crash. Sometimes I can save,
sometimes not. It's not repeatable.

Yes, I get these crashes fairly often. The other common crashes I get when
pressing F1 for help. I lost so much work to some of those that I now no
longer feel safe to use the online help. Another advertised feature not
available in practise?
