Can anyone point me to a good reference on control of
units when plotting in MathCAD?
Is it sometimes necessary to divide the plotted
function by the desired units?
Is it always necessary to specify units on the axis
limits?
Any help would be appreciated.

Boni,
1) For units that MathCAD defined, you may or may NOT need to divide the
units.
2) For those units that you defined, you have to divide the plotted
function by the desired units.
I tried to attached a file as an example, but failed to do so . Instead,
the following message was receive.

I recently attended a MathCAD tutorial session at PTC. I asked a couple of similar questions about plotting. I was told that if you want different units the only way to change them is to divide by them. There is no way to then change how the axes are labeled even though showing unit/otherunit looks confusing to individuals not familiar with MathCAD. I was told that a workaround for this would be to make images of the units you wanted to show and to paste them over the labels shown in the worksheet. It is kind of a hack job, but if you're trying to alleviate confusion I think it's the best you can do. If it comforts you at all they say it is one of the things they are working to improve (along with word processing interfaces).
Also, I believe you only have to specify units on the limits when they are not the default units. I am not certain of this fact though.
Hope I was of a little help.

Tom,
Always divide by the units on a plot. You do not need units on the axis
limits.

Hi Tom,
If you want your graph to display the results in units other than those that are Mathcad's default, you will need to divide by the desired unit. I personally don't see this as a problem since it's always a good idea to be specific about exactly what units are displayed on a graph anyway.
The only reason to specify units on the axis limits is if you want to specify the limits in units that are different to your plotted units e.g. your axis plotted units are in mm but you want to set limits in inches.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Jonathon

Guang,
What version of Mathcad are you using? If it's M12 or later, and you're
saving as an xmcd file, then (assuming you haven't already done so :-) ) you
could try:
1. opening Properties from the File menu, choose the XML options tab and
select 'No images'.
2. saving as Mathcad Compressed format (xmcdz).
This will substantially reduce the size of a worksheet.

Guang,
You can also select file / properties /XML options and choose "No
images" and "Don't store large evaluated result". This will
substantially reduce the file size AND make saving much quicker.
