Dear Mike
When you finish installing Mathcad you'll need to allow it to authenticate
the CD? To do so, you'll have to leave the CD in there for the first launch
of Mathcad.
I hope this helps

Subject: [mathcad] Mathcad 2001i asks for CD
I'm finding an irritating problem with MathCad 2001i in that it asks for
the installation CD occasionally when I attempt to run it on my portable
PC. I rarely take my external CD drive with me, let alone my MathCad CD.
So I cannot access my files at work and I have to wait until I get home.
What causes this? Is there any way around it?

Yes, I've already done this once, and I've used it a couple of times
already, but the message has popped up again.

It probably helps for most people, but not always. On my laptop
(IBM 570) C_dilla can't run at all so at the moment I can't run 2001i.
I am looking forward to hear what Mathcad will do about this.

Aha! That's what the C_dilla directory does! Whenever I load software, I
take an inventory of what files have been added or changed. After having
installed MathCad 2001i, I erased the C_dilla directory thinking it was
just a temporary directory left over from MathCad 2001i's somewhat flaky
installation process. Now I'm up and running again!

Go to the Math, Options, Calculation menu and select the Backward
compatibility mode. This runs the old Mathcad computation kernal which
should work fine with your documents.

You can also try switching your index for "N" to 0 and your index for "S" to
1. I don't know older versions of MathCAD but this seems to work here.
Hope this helps,
Glenn Goldstein

We had problems with 2001i under Windows NT if you did not use backward
compatability - some answers were plain wrong. I believe only NT had the
problem.

There's a known bug in Mathcad 2001 and 2001i that causes the ORIGIN
statement to be ignored (sometimes). Running REGTOOL.EXE in the Mathcad
directory fixed it for me.
