He's obviously never heard of the "great Variable Shortage" Most symbols
have multiple definitions depending on the specialty. "V" might be voltage,
velocity, variance, valence or any number of other things. The best he
might do is buy old engineering and physics books and look at the Table of
Variables, and build off of that.

Hi:
I have a friend engineer who wants to take full advantage of MathCad's
ability to define variables with Greek letters, subscripts, etc - and he
wants to find out about naming conventions for variables used in physics
and engineering - Does anyone know of a handy table or document (in
electronic format)
that explains these conventions, for example : "v" is velocity, "V"
is volume, "l" is length, "P" is pressure, lower case Greeks such as
alpha, theta, etc for angles, "g" for gravity, etc, etc .
