Word settings define the placement of footnotes, assuming you are using an endnote style with footnotes and that you are entering the footnotes in Word, and inserting the citations into the footnote.  This is different from a numbered style, and inserting the citations in the text and creating a numbered bibliography which is at the end.  One set of directions to change footnote placement in Word2007 are here and is similar for Word 2010.
