Keyword Separator Problem: There IS NO solution (?)
Author:    Posted: Tue, 27 Sep 2005 18:54:16 -0400
An earlier poster notes that:

I am using EndNote Pro 8 on a G5 Mac running OS 10.4 "tiger".
In my large library I have separated the keyword items with /,
so as to constraint the indexing and prevent new index items
from being created on lon strings of discrete items. [...But]
I find that the "/" is being interpreted in exporting as a CR anyway!!
. . . Can anyone suggest another way to keep the EN keyword
items distinct in indexing while allowing me to export them all
on the same "line"?

To the best of my knowledge and testing, there IS NO solution to this
continuing problem. (I'll be glad to be proven wrong.)

I believe that EndNote 9 for the Mac (I don't know about the PC)
fixes this problem for the EndNote export style but not for the XML
export.

An alternate possibility to try is to move the keywords to a custom
field and then export them that way. They can be moved back into
the keyword field after reimport if that helps.
