After bumping into the dreaded "This command is not available because there
is no document window active" (or something like that) error in previous
versions of Endnote I was dumbfounded to get it AGAIN in endnote 6. The only
way I found to get EN to work again was to completely reinstall MS Office
and EN6.
The reason for writing to the list is that I think I know why these errors
occurred... In each case I think the error began after editing a macro in
Word (I wanted a macro to record some text with a greek character in it, the
text worked except the Greek character, but I could fix the problem by
editing the macro directly) and then **failing to close the editor before
returning to using word**. I think this leaves Visual Basic somehow in an
unstable state which makes EN think that there is no document in use. I
would do the test and repeat this but I don't want to lose the couple of
hours it would take to recover from the problem - maybe someone at ISI can
test my idea and save people a lot of wasted time...?
