Barbara,

Have you tried making a copy of the document for sharing, hitting
"unlink fields," which makes the bibliography into regular text, and
only then sending it around for review? The only drawback is that then
you have to make your revisions back on the original copy. But I'd want
to do that anyway so that Word's Comment feature wouldn't accidentally
corrupt my original.
