Record Number (temporary citation) Shows even though CWYW is

Hi everyone

On 9 November I posted a similar experience to Karen. I've followed all
the suggestions, but to no avail.

I was working on a chapter-length document with CWYW and it worked fine.
I then copied this file from my desktop to my laptop.

When I inserted a new citation from CWYW, no citation appeared and the
bibliography disappeared.

When I formatted bibliography, nothing happened.

When I turned off CWYW it allowed a new temporary citation to show.
When I switched CWYW on again the temporary citation disappeared.

When I copied a new version of the chapter to my laptop, highlighted all
and pressed Unformat Citations, the bibliography disappeared but the
existing citations remained formatted,

When I inserted a new citation. it appeared as a temporary citation.
When I enabled Instant Formatting the new citation disappeared as
before.

When I copied all the chapter except the last paragraph mark to a new
document (as Virginia suggested), exactly the same.

I'm working with Mac OSX10.4.10, Word for Mac 2004 V11.3, and EndNote
9.0.

I repaired permissions and restarted the laptop, but the problem
persisted.

Desperate for advice!

John

Thanks for your suggestion, but CWYW was on. I was told to unformat the
document and then format it. That solved my problem.

I was using CWYW with Endnote 8 and when I converted to Endnote X, the
document wouldn't automatically format any of the new references I
added. I unformatted and reformatted the document using Endnote X, and
it now works.

Thanks everyone for your advice!!

Hi

I have a similar problem to Karen.

I was working on a chapter-length document with CWYW and it worked fine.
I then copied this file from my desktop to my laptop, whereupon it
would not show new citations. When I turned off CWYW it allowed
temporary citations to show, but when I turned on instant formatting the
temporary citations disappeared.

I'm working with Mac OSX10.4.10, Word for Mac 2004 V11.3, and EndNote
9.0.

I repaired permissions and restarted the laptop, but the problem
persisted.

Given Karen's experience with Windows and EndNoteX, is this a problem
generic to EndNote? How can we fix it?
