Addendum:

Or even from entirely within the Endnote interface - (I'm using X1 on a iMac) searching for and then saving/copying the retrieved references and abstracts to your Endnote database -- no, there is no option I am aware of to snag the pdf.

But in this mode I am using Endnote to search public databases. I then go to the online academic library to get the full text pdfs of the articles I need. I then enter the path to that pdf into the associated Endnote record.

that's just a way of doing it.

And I'd love that "snag me the PDF while you're at it, Endnote" feature!!!

I'll take a stab at this one.

If I understand you correctly... no.

I'm guessing you have access to an academic online library, including access to full text pdf's of the article by links. So when you go through the process to download the citation + abstract, you'd like to be able to, say, check a box and get the PDF sent to your computer and the path/filename of where it got stored automatically entered into the Endnote record along with the cite/abstract.

That would be very nice.

Instead, I think, you have to do it manually. Grab the cite/abstract into endnote. Then go back a few pages to where you can download the PDF, then manually enter the path to that file into the Endnote record you created.

Hope this helps (and is accurate),

I'm new to EndNote and have searched the manual and online FAQs, etc., and I haven't found any indication of being able to download PDFs along with the citations and abstracts from online databases. So I'm turning to all you wonderful experienced people to ask...

Is it possible to download PDFs with the citations and abstracts?

TIA. Your help is much appreciated.
