Making global changes
Author: Sarasue French    Posted: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 22:40:58 +0800
Hello, folks ...

I've imported about 150 files from Academic Search Elite (EBSCO)
using a filter from the EndNote Web site. Unfortunately, however,
all of these citations have a blank space at the beginning of each
field, interfering with any attempt to alphabetize.

A look through the list archive turned up a way to do a global insert
(References menu, Change Field entry), but I have not found a way to
do what amounts to a global delete. Any suggestions?

Or perhaps someone has a better filter.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Sara French

Hi Sara,

do it like that:
1. References -> Change Field ->
2. Choose the field to change (e.g. "Author")
3. Choose "Insert before fields text"
4. Give in something, that does not make sense (e.g. "aaaaaa")
5. Press "Change"
6. Repeat this for each field, use under point 4 always the same string
7. References -> Change Text
8. Give in "aaaaaa " in the "search for" field and leave the "change =
text to"
field empty.
9. Press "change"

That's all.

Successful procedure!

Best regards

Christian
