Hi
I was wondering if there was a possibility of printing out a template so
that I can enter details by hand in comfort and then pass on the hand
written notes to a typist who will just follow my notes?
Regards

You could try doing screen dumps of resized windows.
It would be great to be able to print out so that you could ponder things
on the train too!

After choosing to edit your output style, select and copy each template and
then past them separately into a word processor document. It's a round
about way to work, but once the templates are in Word, WordPerfect, etc.
you can print or edit them. After the typist has edited them in the word
processor, simply copy and paste them back into EndNote.

My immediate response is - "Russell, learn to use the key-board rather than
do the work twice!" - but of course there are sometimes uses for a
template.
Here is my workaround, whichis more flexible than some other ways I could
imagine.
EN has an output style called 'Show All'. Open a new blank reference in the
Reference Type you want to use. Select this style. Type any character in
the fields you want to include in your template, thus forcing EN to display
them. Show the reference in the Preview Pane. Select and copy this text to
your word processor. Delete the blank reference. This gives text such as:
Reference Type: Journal Article
Record Number: 208
Author: x
Year: x
Title: x
Journal: x
Volume: x
Issue: x
Pages: x
Alternate Journal: x
etc etc
Use your WP to remove the whole line regarding record number (which EN will
set automatically as you input data later), remove the temporary codes and
otherwise tidy things up (eg, RH justifying the input fields in a table
makes filling them in and transcribing easier.) Takes less time to do than
to write about it...!
