Changing the filter used in a direct download (RIS)
Author: Ferran, Carlos    Posted: Fri, 14 May 2004 11:35:11 -0400
When I do a direct download of data from Proquest (ABI/INFORM) Endnote
does not read all the data. The reason is that the filter being used
(automatically) is not correct. I have a filter that works but I do not
know how to specify which filter to use when doing a direct download. I
know that the direct download is using a RIS file and the risweb32.exe
program; however, I cannot find any information on the parameters that
the program uses. Can anybody help me on this.

Thanks,

Carlos

Proquest uses the RIS format for direct export. To stop EndNote using its
own RIS import function, you must name your filter RIS-Filter and make sure
that it is in your normal Filters folder. EndNote will now use this filter
instead of the RIS import function.

The only drawback to this is that there are other databases, apart from
Proquest, that use the RIS format for direct export. If you are using direct
export from those databases, you may find that the filter which you wrote
for Proquest does not work well with the other databases. If this happens,
remove your RIS-Filter (temporarily) from your Filters folder, and then
EndNote will use the normal RIS import function.
