Regarding the use of slavic characters:
I have the same problem using slavic characters in Endnote 3.1. Endnote
does not officially accept non-Latin characters, but I have found that it
is possible to find Slavic fonts that work. I recommend downloading a bunch
of different Slavic fonts off the web (for Russian I had to find KOI-8,
1251, and Windows fonts) and then try changing fonts in Endnote until you
find one that works. It's a pain, but it was worth it for me.
