Hello,

You may have the field codes turned on in Word:

If your text looks odd, you probably have Word's Field Codes turned on:

The document {ADDIN EN.CITE

are turned on.

{ ADDIN EN.REFLIST }

Go to Word, then tools, then options, then View. To the right, uncheck
the box "Field Codes."
You can also use the right click and Toggle Field Codes to off while
working on your paper. the field coldes temporarily. You will want to
make sure the codes are permanently turned off in Word to view the
final version of your work.
When the field codes are turned off, your document will appear normal:

The document (Hasman & Hope, 2006) looks odd because field codes are
turned on.

Hasman, A., & Hope, T. (2006). Health Care Need: Three Interpretations.

Field Codes in Word 2007

To remove field codes:
Go to the Office Button (the Circle in the top right)
Select "Word Options"
Select "Advanced"
Under "Show Document Content"
Uncheck the box for "Show field codes instead of their values"
