Hi,
I've been experiencing a rare, but annoying problem with EndNote.
I'll double-click on a reference in an EndNote library view, and I'll
observe that the reference will not only not open immediately, but
also that my computer suddenly becomes unresponsive (I can't switch
to another application, for example). This will last, say, 10-15
seconds, and then all will be normal. Except that if I check my
/var/vm folder, I'll find that several VM swap files have been
generated!
I'm wondering whether there isn't some sort of memory leak in
EndNote, or else EN is triggering a leak in the OS. It's obviously a
rare bug, but when it occurs, it's a disturbing one.
Have any other Mac users observed a strange 10-15 second
"lockup" when trying to open a bibliographic reference?

Hello Marc,
Yes, I have also had this problem but have never looked for a cause. I'm a
computer pessimist and just assume that ALL programs will occasionally cause
problems. Next time I will check the vm folder to look for swap files. I'm
running OS 10.2.8 and EN 7.

Hi,
I have found the same problem with Mac OS 10.3.3 and Endnote 7.0. I was
wondering if Endnote was the culprit when I saw your post. I have not
looked at swap files, but the in the Console I had the following
message:
localhost kernel: (default pager): [KERNEL]: no space in available
paging segments; swapon suggested
That is perfectly compatible with new swap files being generated. As
you said, it is possible a memory leak in EndNote, or else EN is
triggering a leak in the OS
