How come there are not any filters or connection files for EbscoHOST? They
offer just about every major database online today, including PsycINFO and
about every one that OCLC or OVID does. They do have a Z39.50 compliant
server. Has any one succeeded in connecting to their databases?

Just back on the list after upgrade to Endnote 4. The two databases I
use are Web-based Ebsco and ABI-Inform (Bell and Howell/Proquest
Platform), both of which offer me ugly text downloads and/or more
impenetrable *.asp formats. ( The ABI filters that come with Endnote4
are different.)
(I can't download direct from databases here, since we don't have Z39.50
support here--and I'm not paying for my own separate account on each).
Does anyone have a filter developed for either of these--something
they're willing to share? (Anyone else who needs both? We can each
produce one of them.)
If not, what existing import filter's close to these?
Thanks.

One might expect consumers to resist any institution's request that
they offer up part of their anatomy for review, especially if this
was
a prerequisite to gaining access to what is rightfully theirs.
Fingerprinting, for instance, carries Orwellian, if not downright,
criminal connotations.

Marty,
I created a filter for ABI-Inform. You can download it from the Notre Dame
EndNote Companion at
http://www.nd.edu/~ndlibs/eresources/endnote/ (follow the link beside the NEW!
image). You might
also find the table of Popular Information Providers, accessible through the
site Appendix, quite
useful. It's similar to a table in the EndNote reference manual, but I've
updated and modified a
few things. Note, especially, the comments for ABI-Inform in the Import Option
column.
