Hi all, I have downloaded many papers in my computer before I intalled the Endnote. How can I input information of the papers to Endnot? Is there any other way to input all in one time, except inputing one by one manually? Thanks a lot.

There is no easy way to ask endnote to see what you have on your computer and put them into the library. Is that what you were looking for?   You can use publically accessible databases (pubmed for example in the sciences) or subscription based databases (Scopus or Web of Science in --you guessed it, sciences) and just search for your favorite topics and down load them all.  Then with X2 or X3, you can find full text, if you have electronic access to them.

Help! When I insert citations, the magically change to *other* citations!

This is one of those problems that's going to sound crazy, so let me preface it by saying I am working on my PhD dissertation; I have several Endnote libraries and several hundred entries, and I've been using it almost daily for months now.   Just today, all of a sudden, I would insert a citation; say, (Phillips, 1987) and before my eyes, I swear, it magically changed to (Phillips, 1970). I tried deleting the citation then re-entering it; I tried shutting everything down and taking a nap, then sneaking up on it; I tried deleting the entry in the library then re-entering it. It keeps happening, and it's getting worse. Sometimes the whole thing will change to, say (Smulyan, 1994) -- when it does so, it changes to a reference that I *do* have in my library.   A couple of times, magically, the citation has just reverted back to what it was supposed to be. But the problem keeps happening. It's driving me insane.   Has anyone else experienced this, and if so do you know what the solution is?

Could you look up here? http://forums.thomsonscientific.com/ts/board/message?board.id=en-general&thread.id=1971   I believe this is a curse of "record number" EN has employed over the years. To keep backward compatibility, EN can't drop the method, but creating a lot of problem like this.    Also, it is better to work with one master library, instead of many libraries of various categories, unless you are collaborating with other people. To manage various references in a single master library, EN now has a "group" function, which is still kind of developing.

Endnote X2, Word XP (Windows) - Tried everything but it still doesn't work, please help!

My original problem was that nothing happened when I clicked the Endnote links in Word. I search online to find a way fix this and found may sites saying similar things that it is likely to be another Word add-in that is interferring with Endnote. I assumed this was NuancePDF so followed the online advice to fix it, and it didn't work. I've now uninstalled NuancePDF and still it won't work. Please if someone knows a new way I could try can you let me know.   At the moment, under 'Templates and Add-ins' in Word there are the following: Endnote Cwyw.dot (ticked) Endnote Wed Cwyw.dot (not ticked) WordCmds.dot (not ticked)  --  (i don't know what this is, haven't done anything with it yet as it sounds important)

Thomson's FAQ site says EN X2 does not support Word XP (2002), but one of my PC has Office XP and EN X3 and CWYW is working just fine. So, my guess is some other things are conflicting. Why don't you remove WordCmd.dot? It is something related to Roxio DVD CDR writer. Also, if you are not using EN web, you can probably remove Endnote Web CWYW.dot as well.

I've removed both of them now but still no luck. Strangely where the Endnote tab should be in Word, there is a tab called 'PDF converter settings'. I've uninstalled Nuance PDF so it's not for that. It seems to be linked to Endnote as it disappears when I untick Endnote Cwyw.dot in the 'Templates and Add-ins' window.

That add in still sounds like it is related to Nuance's software.  http://knowledgebase.nuance.com/view.asp?60VQ=KFFE&5d7r4B=   If that doesn't help, at this point, I would see if there is anything left in the registry from Nuance.  I would uninstall endnote and remove anything from the registry for endnote and start over.  Also delete any endntoe related files from previous versions (if they were installed) from Endnote X, for example, in the word startup folders.    then do a clean install of Endnote.

Compressed library function is a recent feature. Version 3 definitely doesn't have it.

Are you using Windows Vista? I found my EN X3 installed in Vista 64 bit doesn't show compressed library command, but EN X3 installed in Win XP Pro shows the command no problem. If you are using Vista, this may be a bug we need to tell Thomson.

I am using Win Xp pro, I installed X3 without uninstalling X2, perhaps I should first uninstall X2 before installing X3. But there are other people, who is useing Endnote X3 for the first time, have the same problem.

myoshigi...is the compressed library command totally missing from the File menu or is it "greyed out"? If it is just "greyed out" where are your libraries being kept (i.e., are they on a flash drive, My Documents, etc.)?

It is greyed out when no library is open. But, when my library is open (it is in My Document - Document in Vista 64), the menu is completely missing.

I have unintentionally deleted all my references in my EndNote Bibliography (EndNote 6 ). Is there any Possibility to reconstruct it? Can Windows Vista help me there?   The most references are already inserted in my Word Document (Word 2007), is there a Possibility to reconstruct the EndNote Bibliography via the Word Document?   Thank you very much for your help

Exactly how did you unintentionally delete them?    If the fields are unlinked, what kind of citations are there (I.E. Author, Date or numbered?).    Are you still trying to use Endnote6 and Word2007?  if any of us helped you, it would probably be a post EndnoteX product, and it would probably not be compatible with your combination.
