Hello! I use a PC running on Windows 98 (poor me) at work and I have an
Apple laptop at home on OSX. I have endnote at home but I don't have
endnote yet on my work computer although I have access to it via King's
College. My question is whether or not there is a version that is better
on Windows 98 than another, and if there is any possibility of being able
to use the same libraries on the two computers.
Thanks for your help!

Endnote 6/7 need Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP operating system
to run. However, EndNote's website says it will also work on Windows
98SE (but not 98) and Windows NT 4. EndNote 5 should work on 98 though.
You should also consider what version of word processing programs you
are using (that table is available on the website faqs page). What ever
you do, when switching between the two platforms, keep your references
unformatted (in the brackets) or you will be guaranteed to get corrupted
documents! Name your library with the extension .enl (on the mac too) -
and on the mac, you may need to hold the shift key down while opening
the library, so it will show up as a file to load.
Of course your next problem would be finding an old version of EndNote5
to purchase?

Hello Roberta,
Use EndNote 7 on both Windows 98 and MacOS X. and you can use the
same libraries on both computers. You need version 7 for
compatibility with MacOS X and you can use EndNote 7 on Windows 98
unless you need support for the Palm handheld.
Best regards,
Ingvar Ericson

Roberta
you don't say which version of OSX you have. If its 10.2 then Endnote 6
should work on both platforms. If its 10.3 then you would need to use
Endnote 7 as 6 has a few limitations on 3.
