I don't know about Endnote 6, but I am using Endnote 5 with Windows XP
Home Edition and it works great. All the fields, areas, connections,
etc., work fine.

Subject: Windows XP Home Edition
I had this question from a student. Can someone help?
A few months ago, I purchased a CD-rom copy of Endnote 5 from Computer
Supplied for my desktop at home, which is running Windows 98, and I
installed Endnote 5 without any problem. Recently I just bought this
laptop which has Windows XP Home Edition pre-installed in it, and I just
couldn't set up Endnote 5 under the Windows -- I checked Endnote
homepage, and found they have no information about Endnote 5 whatsoever,
only Endnote 6. Does that mean I have to another $100 or so to buy
Endnote 6 for my laptop? Is it possible to pay a small amount of fee to
have Version 5 written over by Version 6 on the CD that I got?
I look forward to receiving reply from you soon - I'm getting a bit
desperate here (as I have started writing my PhD thesis).

Yes, I have discussed the problem with ISI tech support. They have no
resolution to the problem at this time.

To Virginia Benjamin:
Using your hint, instead of creating a separate library for this
purpose, I
consider changing all the pages fields of my main library (after backing
up,
for sure), and revert this after finishing the paper.
Anyway, good idea, thank you.

Hi!
EndNote 5 works with Windows XP and Word XP. EndNote 6 in my experience
has
a problem with Word XP.
Make sure that you installed EndNote after you installed Word. Also
upgrade
to 5.0.2 of EndNote available for free from EndNote.

What do you mean it doesn't close?
Word XP closes fine in my system when I have both programs opened. Even
after using CWYW or other functions, I have no problem closing Word
while
Endnote is still opened.

version 5 should work on windows XP, as I have it installed and it works
great.
One question: Have you installed word prior to installing endnote?
This
could cause many problems. Regardless, try uninstalling and installing
again by using the control panel, remove software, etc.

Me too, but Word XP does not close (I receive the application not

Subject: What are the problems with Endnote 6?
Hi All
I have been 'lurking' on this list for some time and have learnt
valuable
lessons from those 'endnote experts' out there with seemingly endless
knowledge of using endnote - thanks. I currently use endnote 4 at uni
with
word 2000, but need to buy endnote for home to use with XP. I am
wondering
whether someone out there could enlighten me on what the problems are
with
endnote 6 as there seems to be a lot of disgruntled Endnote users who
have
bought version 6. Am I better off to get version 5?
Thanks for your help
