EndNote not functioning in MS Word 2001

Hello,
I have recently installed Microsoft Office 2001 and EndNote 5.0.2 from a
Mac G3 onto a MaciBook. I am using OS 9.2 with these programs in the
Mac Classic environment, which is working in conjunction with OS 10.4.
The problem is that, although the EndNote CWYW toolbar and scroll bar
menu commands show up in Word, they don't function. This is true both
with previously created documents with EndNote citations and with new
documents.
I have made sure that the two proper files are installed in the MS Word
startup folder and have tried opening EndNote first and Word second and
vice versa, all to no avail.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. I will
certainly consider upgrading to Word 2004 and a newer version of
EndNote, but that seems silly if I am going to have this same problem.
The two programs I have now, although certainly dated, are supposed to
be compatible.
Thanks
Matt Babcock

Were they working on the G3? Can you start your iBook Mac OS 9, and, if
yes, do they work? Did you copy Office's VBA component? Probably the
easiest thing to do is to re-install Office and then EN, making sure
Office is installed on the boot partition.

Unless you can't afford it or use them only once in a blue moon, you
definitely should upgrade.

Thanks for the response, Alex.

Yes

I don't think that I can startup directly from OS9. I don't have any of
the installation software for OS 9 or 10.4. They were already on the
used machine I purchased.
Did you copy Office's VBA component?
Office 2001 was installed by the repair people.

I've decided to just go ahead and purchase Office 2004 and EndNote X.
After downloading trial versions of these programs and importing my
EndNote 5.0.2 library to EndNote X, everything has been working fine.
Thank you for your help.
