IMHO, you've identified a real problem (though I'd substitute "on-line
contents" for "things etc."). I don't think there's a simple or even a

Unfortunately, modifying most electronic content (while circumventing
creation/modification date tracking facilities of common operating

IMHO, the chief distinction of the "wiki model" is the principle that
anyone can edit content at any time (cf.
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki>), not the revision control system.
Such systems have been used (primarily by software developers) since the
old SCCS in the 1970s, and, for all I know, even earlier than that.
Hence, using "wiki" in this context is misleading.
