On a windows PC, hold down the 'ALT' key and type 0150 on the numeric
keypad. This is the ascii code for an en dash. You can find other ascii
codes in the EndNote help files (look up ascii in the index). I did a
'search and replace' in the pages field of my EndNote library to replace
hyphens with en dashes, and now routinely replace the hyphen using
ALT-0150 every time I put a new ref in.

Subject: How to Quickly Insert En Dashes (APA Style) within a Reference
Hi~
I would appreciate some help and advice on the best and quickest method
for inserting "en dashes" within APA-style references while working
within the EndNote program? [Note: An "en dash" is slightly longer than
a hyphen and is used to indicate a range of pages (i.e., 54-56) for
journal articles or book sections.]
I've tried: 1) copying and pasting the en dash from an MS word doc into
the EndNote reference; and 2) copying the en dash symbol from the
Windows' System Tools Character Map. The manual mentioned using Term
Lists but I couldn't figure out how it works for special characters like
the en dash. The first two methods work but is there a way where I can
insert the en dash while staying within the EndNote program so entering
page numbers would be quicker and easier?
Thanks for the help.
Chick
