I converted my EN7 to EN 8.0.1 today and now I can't reformat my Word XP
documents created with EN7. I can unformat them (which manual advices
when upgrading), but both Word and End Note hang when reformating them.
Does anyone know what to do about this? I have a book MS to deal with!
Also, EN always opens in a maximized window, no matter how I've changed
it. Manual says it shouldn't do this. But it does! Help!

I have just been through this with a very long MS (218 pages - 1300 refs) turned
out it hadn't hung but was very slow. try turning off auto update to prevent
locking during work and only update very occasionally when you plan to go out
for a walk or get a cup of tea etc.

I contacted EndNote support on this, and they identified it as a problem
caused by Word's "track changes" feature. After turning that off, and
turning off "View / Markup," I was able to convert my documents
successfully.

Ahhh yes. I always have problems with any document which has track
changes on, for any length of time, as the reformatted references (with
all the field information for the "traveling library") are there twice
(in the deleted text and in the document itself). Hence keep cwyw off,
and accept tracked changes or at least turn the tracked changes off,
when you format the bibliography.
Time for my recurrent plea to ISI, to make the traveling library an
option, only to be used when needed writing collaborative manuscripts
with distant colleagues.
