Not citing an author within parentheses and only the year

Hello,
I'm using the APA style of citing my references within text. I have my default to the author/s and year (e.g., Smith, 2005) in parentheses while I cite references within text. There are parts of the document that I need to cite only the year since I have the author's name within the text of the document. How do I change my default to allow me to do that?
Thank you,
Shetal Desai

The answer depends on whether you have CWYW on or off. If it is off, remove the author from the square (or squiggly) brackets, but not the comma or year. If it is on, right click in the brackets and select edit citation and then tick the box "remove author". That should do it.

This is not working in my EndNote-8.0.2. I have tried both methods, but
they dont work. It doesnt seem to matter if the "remove author" check box
is marked. If this is working for you, then what is your EN version - I
might want to downgrade to the one that can handle this.
Thanks,
Birkir.
